Tournament History

The tournament tradition first began in the tribe The Lost Ones in June of 2012. The idea of having a tournament was started by Cheezonwheel. The idea first came at the beginning of June and a lot of tribe members supported Cheezonwheel's idea. It was also time for the London Olympics in 2012 later on in the summer. We thought it would be cool to host an online tournament in celebration of the Olympics in London. About two weeks later, it became a reality. The only active tribe members to this day that participated in the first-ever tournament were Akoolchicano, Cheezonwheel, and Itsflamedude.

Akoolchicano and Cheezonwheel began setting up the tournament for the tribe and it turned out to be a huge success. We completed all the minigames offered and declared our first champions by August. However back then, tournament participants only competed in one round and if they lost their first match, they would be automatically out.

In the Fall of 2012, we decided to try the tournament idea again since we thought it would be another success. We tried out a new test called group stage for more tournament participants to try their best in more than one match per minigame unlike the Summer one earlier. We began the tournament in October of 2012 but then it became abandoned due to many participants leaving the tribe and we had too many guests that made the tournament impossible to complete.

In January of 2013, we decided to start a brand-new tournament for The Lost Ones' members only with the same new format implemented in October. It was supposed to be finished in March of 2013, but it ended up running through August of 2013. We never finished the Bootcamp, Fight, or Shaman minigames due to a lack of people logging in. This tournament turned to be a huge failure for everyone, and this would be the last full tournament until 2015 when Carpe Omnia tried to implement it again.

The tournament idea came back for a short time in the Winter of 2013 by The Lost Ones member Gemicore. Akoolchicano and Gemicore ended up hosting a mini-tournament featuring Survivor only with only ten participants. The minigame was completed in two weeks and it gave a few people sympathy of going forward again, but this would end up being the last tournament in the tribe The Lost Ones due to it dying all of a sudden. Many members from The Lost Ones then jumped ship to Carpe Omnia where we all faded away until 2015.

There would be no tournament in 2014 due to a lack of people getting online and at the time, Akoolchicano was a stranger to the tribe Carpe Omnia. It would have been fun to host a tournament that year since the World Cup in Brazil was going on.

However, in the Summer of 2015, the tournament idea came into play again in a brand-new tribe. We only featured Racing and Survivor this time because summer was ending soon. This tournament would end up being a huge success for the tribe and is the whole reason why the former members from The Lost Ones and the members of Carpe Omnia collided and became friends, a stand that still lasts to this day.

The idea of having another tournament in the Winter of 2015 came into thought as soon as the Summer one ended. We would give it another go, and the tournament was completed in February of 2016. It depends on how you put it, but this tournament was both a success and a failure. It was a success that we finished a tournament during a busy time in school and a failure because we had to replace so many members after they quit on us.

Our next tournament was in Summer 2016 during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This tournament was like the previous one where we had to remove so many members. However, we ended up finishing the tournament as planned by the end of the summer and held the Champion of Champions Tournament to determine the true champion of champions in each minigame.

From 2016 to 2020, all of us primarily left Transformice to pursue greater things such as attend college and have an outside life. However, the global COVID-19 pandemic put a pause in the outside world. The virus had brought us together again due to most of us being stuck in quarantine. We held a successful reunion and we decided to give it a go at another tournament. At the time, we were calling this tournament “The Farewell Tour” because many of us thought this was the final time we would reunite to the greatest extent.

The Summer 2020 tournament was a huge success as we ended up not only playing all the same minigames from Transformice, but we also added Jeopardy and Uno Singles/Teams for the first time ever. The addition of these two minigames brought in one of the most competitive and successful tournaments to date. Not only that, but we got to see new people debuting in their first ever tournament as well as returning old faces.

It was not the farewell of the tournament though as there was a Summer 2021 edition of the tournament the following year as the pandemic continued to roll on in the world. This tournament was historic as it featured the debut of Parkour and Jeopardy finally was able to conclude. For the first time ever, all tournament matches were uploaded on YouTube!

We are not done yet though as there will be a Summer 2022 edition of the tournament! This will also be another historic accomplishment as this tournament will mark the 10th Year Anniversary that we started the annual tradition, dating back to 2012. Now that the world is returning to normalcy, how will this tournament go for all of us?

Throughout tournament history, we have had a participant from Albania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Egypt, Georgia, Iraq, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela.

Out of people in the United States, we have had a participant from Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington D.C.
